Passive, diode based Overdrive...

Hi all,
I just stumbled upon this design for a passive, Overdrive.
I am considering building one( or possibly having one made as I my soldering skills are almost nonexistent)
Now I am wondering how the two diode version might sound different to the four diode one and wondering if any of you might be able to advise.

That's where I saw this concept first.
The site seems down though.
I can also not remember if they address this specific question.
