Passive p/j basses under $750 new or used?

Godin Shifter Classic. Lovely Jazz like neck, switchable to P, PJ series, PJ parallel, and J, and all sound great.

This was 750 new from musicians friend. P body jazz neck all passive. Sounds good, mine is nice and light. This was great for me because I wanted a jazz bass vibe without the body shape. Prefer a precision body.

These are really nice. I too prefer the P body. GC/Musicians Friend also have a burst version. They now list for $899, but are frequently on sale for $749. MIM, but you wouldn't know it except it isn't string through and the decal says MIM. Nice hardware. I like the Fender High Mass bridge. Versitle tone. The fretwork on mine is perfect. The neck is a narrow 1.5 jazz, and really solid. Holds tune and intonation really well. In fact, I haven't had to touch the intonation screws since the slight adjustment I did when I bought it and it is spot on after sixteen months. I have mine set to low action with no buzz and love it. I play it with the standard Fender rounds and didn't replace them until just recently. I don't have a scale, but it feels like it is right around 9 lbs. It is my second favorite bass, just under my Gibson T-bird.

I've played the new ss PJ Mustang, and it is also really nice.

It's my number 1 now. Like a Precision but extra. Light looks good and sounds great. I like the neck more than I thought I would. Big fan of chunky necks but this one is nice.

I have a Yamaha bb424x that I love, it's an awesome instrument. The J pickup actually works well to add its own voice combined with the P as opposed to most setups where the J's biggest influence is lending a scooped sound when combined with the P. I swapped the P pickup out so I can confirm that a standard pickup will fit, albeit with a little extra space.
