Double Bass Paul Schenfield Cafe music, what instrument can replace piano?

I am not a classical bassist but i do have to play in a classical ensamble in my college.
I heard cafe music some time ago and thought that it would be cool to perform it with violin, bass and another instrument but im not sure if there is something that can replace piano parts.
I could do arrangements to have someone play the left hand of the piano but usually is there an instrument or more than 1 instrument used to replace piano parts in chamber ensambles?
