    One of my favorite pre-rock bassists is Paul West. I have enjoyed his playing with many of the greats including Dizzy Gillespie but I never knew his story. Holy heck! Scholarship basketball player, college student, still found time to play full time until 4AM! And in his 70s resolved to finish his degree. I’m in awe. Great story.
