Paz Lenchantin

i really like apc, i saw them 2 years ago. the concert started with her out on stage with only one spot on her playing the violin, very powerful. im kinda disappointed that she left, i didnt know that troy van leuween (or however you spell it) left also. i downloaded some live queens of the stone age and he was playing some rythm guitar and keyboard parts. but queens of the stone age has a really weird history of band members, its confusing!

also, twiggy (although i'm told "twiggy" was just a character) is apparently quite the prodigy. he plays quite a few instruments, one of which, i think, is violin, so, we shouldn't be getting screwed over in that department on the next apc record.

well, no one asked, but i tell you anyway, since you don't care. "renholder" backwards is "re:d.lohner", as in, "regarding: danny lohner". some claim that, if you listen to renholder backwards, you'll hear maynard saying "danny lohner"; it's available for download backwards, but i haven't tried it since my modem is slow.

I saw apc in concert too and was absolutely awe struck by Paz. Very powerful! She may not be a great bassist (I think I saw her mess up at one point) but she has some definite stage presence. Something about her when she's playing that bass makes me wanna.... :D Okay I'm going to make a booty call, lata.

Paz isn't that bad a bassist... I've seen APC twice live, and she pulls off the nice bit of solo bass at the beginning of "Brena" perfectly... It's all well and good that Mr. Ramirez or whatever his real name is has joined the band, but the female vocal harmonies were a large part of the APC sound and it'll lack something without Paz... :(

I downloaded the Paz version of The Hollow, and... wow. It's just violin, piano, acoustic guitar and vocals, and it's really good. I consider her to be a very talented musician. The huge vocal harmonies really make me smile (I'm a sucker for a good vocal harmony). In general, I love the idea of reimagining a song you're really familiar with; doing a cover of your own material, in a way.

An update of some things mentioned in this thread:

APC's new album is out (or, "drops", if you prefer) September 16th.

Danny Lohner is out. James Iha (Pumpkins) is in. Falling all around in cycles, in circles...

They are on tour starting July 26. No New Orleans show = screwed again.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paz a couple of years ago. APC were in town opening for Nine Inch Nails. I can't say a bad thing about her!

She was friendly, Played a mean bass and was rather attractive in person(not that shes not in pics)
Whether she played on the album or not.....She pulled it of live!

Boy, I'm bumping an oooold thread. I hope that's okay.

Paz is probably the best female bass player I have heard -- She plays with a big, fat J-Bass sound, similar to John Paul Jones, Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath or Don Brewer from Grand Funk.

I saw her last night at a show for the group she is currently performing in, The Entrance Band.' It the venue was just a bar in a college town, so I spoke to her for a few minutes when I caught her standing around alone before the show.

She was friendly and also kind of shy and quiet -- I expected her to the hip, sarcastic indie-girl type. I also made myself sound like a doofus by mispronouncing her name. It's 'a' as in 'Straw', not 'Apple'.

If you enjoy '60s and '70s psychedlic fuzz rock, you will probably like her band:

Funny this thread resurrection. I was looking for videos today trying to figure out what was so special about her. I've heard of her, of course, but had no curiosity until today to hear her work. And even then, I'm not sure I know her actual playing.

So, I guess I'll have to check out the suggested links.
