Pbass neck perfect

I just got a Lakland bob glaub skyline and haven't really ever played a proper p bass (not since my first starterbass years ago) I was amazed to find th wider neck much more comfortable to play for my hands. I've been using a fender jazz 75 RI for the last year, and whilst i love this bass and it's sound I've always found the neck a little cramped, especially when in drop d, doing octave stuff.

I do find the jazz faster for playing complex things, such as solos or tricky fills - but for over all workhorse bass stuff the o bass neck width has it. I also love playing over the split pickup rather than the single coil....

This all leaves me thinking one day, my pefect bass would be a jazz bass with a PJ pickup configuration, and a pbass neck - or a compromise between a jazz and p neck.

Anyone else feel the same?

yeah i know - can't afford a us lakland! one day tho lol! The jazz precision frankenstein would be my ideal bass because it would provide the aesthetics i like with the one and playability i like!

I'm with you on that. I love fatter necks, they seem to allow for a more relaxed grip which leads to less cramping. I can play a great deal longer on my ATK or P Bass than I ever could with my J Basses. As for pickup configuration I think the PJ is a good combo even though my favorite is a PMM.

I've never used a pmm set up before - I llove my stringray 5 bass tone tho - altho I find it works for some genres better than others - I know jeff howard from the used, used to play a p bass deluxe and the bass on their records always sounds phat. Right now tho I think im happy with my single p/up - i love the look of my precision too, i never thought a mint pickguard would look good but it does, it looks class.
