Pbass project - cavity control

Hello,
I'm going to build a parts pbass. I'll have an already finished body, with the traditional fender front control cavity already routed.
Since I'd like to try to reduce a bit of body weight and I'll use active EMG pickup, I thought about routing a rear control cavity, in which there would be enough room to put the battery and maybe a preamp.
My concerns are that I'll end with a complete hole front to back of the body since the one I'll route at the back will join up with the front existing one. I can cover the front with a control plate and the rear with another plate, but since it will create a sort of resonance chamber, I'm afraid it'll modify how the bass will sound.
Do you think it would improve something if I try to fill the existing front hole with a thin piece of wood and wood filler?
Thank you for your advices

Putting the rear cavity right below the top will remove a bunch of usable space due to the stuff already in there (pots, wires, jack etc.). I would move the rear cavity over and make it the size you want for weight relief, preamp etc.

I also wouldn't be too worried about resonance from a cavity that small in a body that thick. Good luck!
