I just bought a new joystick to use with my laptop. Its a simple unit... Logitech Precision. It seems to be not working properly. In the control panel I can caliberate it to work properly and the buttons and steering pad work fine, but in the game (war rock) the buttons dont seem to work but the steering pad does.

any ideas?

Is there a setup section in the game for using a joystick?

I tried a Logitech joystick a while ago and IIRC I had to go into the game setup and let it know I was going to use the joystick and not the keyboard. I think I also had to customize a lot of the buttons for it to work the way I wanted.

Never really did get use to it and went back to the keyboard.

How do you that? I was not aware mapping the joystick was necessary.

not sure about war rock, but some games I've played you have to go into keyboard setup to assign the joystick buttons. you also might try posting this @ Invalid Link Removed or looking in their online faq

btw my logitech joystick came with a little application that you can create different profiles for different games, and you can assign all the joystick buttons to keyboard buttons - might be a workaround
