Peavey AlphaBASS, Standing End-Up in a Rack Case?

I ask because it's a tube amp, and wonder if it's an issue. I'm going to use it with a 215 cab that's not very deep, and the case will stick off the backside of the cab. Also it will be just a bit top-heavy, so I thought I might stand it up on the floor next to the cab.
Thoughts, knowledge, advice?...

Questions that pop into my mind:

1) Are the transformers appropriately anchored for vertical operation?
2) Are the preamp tube sockets tight enough to keep the tubes in place without retainers?
3) Will a hot zone develop around the uppermost power tubes and affect reliability?

Personally I wouldn't do it, but then again I tend to err on the conservative side when it comes to such things.

These are the kind of questions... The hot zone question is very practical, and the one I can't really address- it is what it is. That's the one that stops me dead. I'm ready to let this go, lol.

Cool, thanks! I do want to replace a preamp tube, so it loses the not-so-useful overdrive about halfway up the gain knob's travel...

In general, yes. That said, I haven't tested this amp so it remains a generality. It may not be as helpful if all of the vents are in the top cover.

All the vents are at the front panel. The fan is on the back panel, blowing through the front vents.

I think (based on my experience) that you will be ok thermally.

Thanks, The fan pushes pretty good air, so I'm hoping/thinking it'll do. I'll keep checking it out I go that way.
