Peavey Bass Amps

Hey y'all . . . I've been gigging with various Peavey bass amps and cabs ever since Jimmy Carter was POTUS. My current Peavey bass rig is pictured here:

Back in the day, the marketing emphasis was "great gear at a fair price" proudly manufactured in "the home of the blues" Mississippi.

Over these last few decades, the Peavey corporation has drifted farther and farther from what I value and respect. This will be my final Peavey rig.

My Mark VI will be my backup until I get rid of it, at which point the need for a backup will arise.

Funny that you should mention that - I've owned Mark III, IV, VI, VIII, T-Max, Alpha, TNT, and Combo 300, and probably a few others I've forgotten... The Mark VI was the best sounding one of the bunch to my ears - I sold it to another player in my area when I moved on to G-K, then later Mesa and Genz-Benz, but that old Mark VI is still chugging along, some 10-15 years later, and the guy I sold it to is still rocking stages with it on a regular basis...

My 1978 Century 200 series head is a killer. Loud 100 watts with a footswitchable ripping, raw distortion built in. Best $70 spent on a bass amp, ever!

I had a TNT 160 combo for over 10 years & it only let me down once, & for a short while a TKO 75 both were U.S.A made . The only down side with the TNT was it was the same dimensions & weight as a washing machine, BUT it was a great combo & nice sound and was built like a tank. Did many gigs with that TNT I loved it .

I agree, that is one of the most reliable and best sounding amps I have ever owned. It is the same story though, it weighs too much for my old body to lug around. I use IEM mostly now and don't use an amp much anymore, but that Mark VI can rock my DIY 2x15.

Call me after they drop the bomb and I may be gigging with it again. My new crap will all be melted into a radioactive pile, but the Mark VI will still be the stuff.
