Have a Basic 40 combo, LOUD for a 112 40 watter, but it has a boxy tone.

Played several gigs with a Mark III, through an SWR Goliath Jr. Awesome sounding setup, as good as most anything I've heard. Granted, my main bass is heavy on the high mids, so that rig was perfect for it...but still.

I used a Peavey Basic 50 when I was in Germany.
I played on the military circuit and when the venue required more power we just miced it through the PA. Simplisity at its finest. I used the Peavey combo for several years...did not want anything heavy or so large that it could not fit into an 1987 Nissan Sentra. The money was good and I was single at the time so this basic set up was all I needed to go with my Washburn Force 40 bass guitar.

The smaller, cheaper combo amps are giant POS's muddy as hell, but I've seen people use their cabs and or heads and they sounded fine to me.
