I played everything in the $1000-2000 price range and bought the Cirrus over Fenders, Warricks, Musicman, etc. By the way, I didn't pay close to $1000 for the Cirrus. I barely mess with the sound of the Cirrus with any effects but it sounds great with a touch of Flange or Phaser and a little compression. Yes, I like compression! Let's start another comp. argument! Oh yeah, I've heard complaints about irritating mids on the G-Bass and I just don't hear it. I love the sound of that bass. I might splurge for the Piezo's too someday. As Les Claypool said: "It's just a matter of opinion."

im gonna have to say that when i went out looking for a new bass lastyear i thought i was going to get a music man, warwick or tobias. but when i picked up the cirrus i fell in love and put a down payment on it as soon as i was done....2 weeks after that the bass was mine. love the body, neck and pu's. im 18 right now and i think this bass will last me the rest of my life. peace.

Don't' see too many guys using this model. I bought it in 83'. Played around with it for a few months, put it in its hard case and left it in my folks shed for the past 18 yrs. Just started to get back into playing and decided to check out the old T-45. The shed in un-airconditioned (New Orleans) so it went through some HOT summers. When I opened the case, I expected to find termites. But to my surprise, the bass was in excellent condition. Except for some oxidation on the bridge and a slight yellowing of the white finish, it was just how I left it. I have a G&L SB2 that I play 99 percent of the time, but I use the T-45 as a back up and for alternative tuning. Its main disadvantage is its weight. It must be 15 pounds. Also, the neck is about 2 inches at the nut, a little wide for my taste. The pickup is a humbucker and dead quite.

Peavey "DID earn its bad reputation"? Man are you outta touch. Peavey's bad rap came from the fact that they made affordable gear...not that there was anything inherently wrong with it. It was associated with "not being able to afford real gear". You may have played an instrument that was damaged or just not set up properly. That's cool. I came to Peavey gear AFTER using the popular names of the 60s and 70s. It was an agonizing decision to sell my 1970 Precision Bass with a factory thin (Jazz) neck-to buy a Peavey bass. I trust my ears and my assessment of quality construction. I spent two full days playing my Fender and two Peaveys-my T40 (that I got, brand new as a trade for an original Dano Longhorn) and the Foundation that I was trying out. I had played my P for 12 years and it was part of me and my sound. At the end of the weekend, I had to weigh hype and 'wannabe' with what I saw, felt and heard. The Precision was put up for sale on Monday...and sold immediately. I have never looked back. Hell, even bottom-of-the-barrel Peavey basses play and sound great-right out of the box. Are they the best? Not a chance. But they are honest. They do the 'job' better than a lot of basses at twice the price.

There is a white 2007 Peavey Zodiac PBX hiding in my humble collection. For a Chinese-made bass it sounds just as good as one worth 4 times what I paid for it. Found it on Craiglist and it is mint!

I've got two. An old Dyna 5 string. One of the first ones to come out. Still plays and sounds great. I took good care of it so it looks as good as it sounds. The other is a new Cirrus 5 maple/alder. It's fantastic!! Why spend $1000 more for less quality.

It's a shame that Peavey has a such an image problem but it's good for us followers. Helps keep the price down.

I GUARANTEE that the next time you walk into a music store, with the anticipation of playing on your mind, the Peavey will feel most like home.
