peavey bvx 115 problem

I didn't check what BW load is used for that cab, but I've used a number of BW 15 and all the ones of the same RMS use the same magnet structure - and the baskets are replaceable/intechangeable. And all of the BW recommended for bass and/or PA have good xmax - definitely up to the task. I still use a couple for subwoofers ocassionally and drive them with double the RMS and never a problem.

Once I had what I thought was a mildly bent voice coil on a used one I got on eBay so I took the basket off ... the voice coil looked fine. So I took some masking tape and made a small loop with sticky side out and folded it, and slid it into the magnet gap and moved it around the entire gap. When I pulled the masking tape out it was coated with a bunch of dirty lint. I repeated the procedure with a fresh piece of tape just to make sure I'd removed all the crap, than bolted the basket back on.

Voila, good as new.
