Apologies if this exists, but I couldn't find anything consolidated.

Does anyone know if there's a single resource with the evolution of the Peavey foundation, or are there any whiz kids that actually know what years certain things changed.
IE
The knobs; Bridge; Pups; Tuners; String Trees; Body shape and wood; 5 string and fretless options; color options and anything else that might be of relevance.

I've got a pile of foundations. Some are and some aren't original. I'm also looking at an add for a 1981 Foundation FL... I know... no such beast. It's probably a 1985 based on the serial number.

I've found this serial number to date chart helpful.

I have an 86 Foundation S that I bought new. I can tell you that mine has the Black Speed Knobs with the rubber grips at the top. Previous years had the metal knobs with the P on them. 86 still had the trapezoidal bridge and the triangular string tee. I think by 88 they had gone to the chrome Dome knobs a different String Tee and a more conventional looking bridge.

If the pot codes check out for the serial # and year, they will tell the story of what the knobs were. Solid shaft--metal P knobs, splined shaft-speed knobs. I have only seen the metal P knobs on 83 and 84 Foundations, sometime in 85 they shifted to the black speed knobs. The knobs went to the chrome domes around 92ish, when the bodies downsized, the bridge went to the rectangular one.
There are a lot of little details, like the script logo on the 93 Foundations, the pinstriped and non pinstriped 80s models, etc... but I'm not 100% on the details and such.

This has been a great resource, thanks!! I had a Foundation as my first bass in the 90s and snagged one up used recently. The serial number states it was produced in 1994, but the headstock is more in line with the 1995 photo [no truss rod cover]. I'm gathering it may have been a late 94 production when they started to swap over[?]. I don't know.

I also found out that my original was a 93.
