Peavey IPR Users - How is this amp working out?

The original Peavey IPR thread (above) hasn't been updated in almost a month so I thought I'd ask those of you that have one the following questions:
* How does it sound compared to other power amps?
* Any reliability issues?
* If you had to do it all over again would you still buy the Peavey?
* Anybody buy the Crown and wish they didn't?
* I assume that no one has tried the DSP units as the 1600's were supposed to be the first out and MF shows that they will be delivered in mid May; that may not happen based on the incredible delays Peavey had with just getting the basic amp to market

I'm looking for a decent power amp, lightweight, approx 1kW bridged at 4 ohms, & .75V input sensitivity; not sure if there are many other choices
I could just modify my pre-amp and buy a Crown, Carvin, etc.

I've been moving towards getting a 3K sometime in the next month. I had originally thought about the 4.5K, but I've been worried that it might be TOO much...and by that I mean running into power supply issues in terms of running it off of regular outlets and such. Is that not a concern? I don't know about how the draw on these big amps works, etc. I'm certainly not an electrician!

Either way, I'm forecasting a IPR-IP amp setup before too long...

I have had it for a while and for a 2-ch poweramp, I do not regret my decision in any way. Since it is a bass rig, I sometimes think I should have gone with a micro-head-as-a-poweramp instead, but that's another thing.

Initially I planned to put the IPR1600 in a rack bag with RBI and DTR tuner, but I kept my pedalboard (with BDDI and stombox tuner) instead. So now I have a 3kg amp with half-empty 5kg rackbag and a micro looks much more appealing, but a micro woulkd also cost more.

Thought I'd bump this up again.
There was a lot of interest in these even before they were available and thought more than 3 folks here would have bought one by now.

I have an IPR-3000 that I've used several times with a Mike Pope MPP-1 and two Bergantino AE212's. The preamp/poweramp combo is feather-light and absolutely crushes! Wonderful tone, way more than enough power, and a pretty easy load in/out for such a powerful, big-sounding rig. I love this amp!

I have had one for about three months and it has worked just fine. I am using an Aguilar Tone Hammer to drive it and it sounds great. I tried a SansAmp at first and it did not work out so well. The input is looking for a hotter signal than a 9v preamp can provide. The Aguilar (18v) is working like a champ. I have a few other preamps I am going to try. So far no problems with overheating and I have been running it hard for 3-5 hours at a time. The only gripe I have with it is the LEDs on the front are bright as hell. They will turn your practice space into a disco. A little bit of gaffers tape will fix that so its not really a problem. Lots of power for the $$/weight.

I've been using an IPR-3000 for my amp for over a year now with no problems, even in 100 degree in the sun conditions. I've played it for well more than just a few hours at loud volume, run it bridged, off of a single channel, or off of both channels all without problems.

Seems like everyone is pretty happy withe their IPR. Are they one of the more user friendly in terms of sensitivity/ preamp compatibility than say comparable crowns, QSC and the like. I would like to be able to choose from a broad, not terribly expensive range of preamps That would work well. Does anyone wish they had bought a different amp?

I have no GAS for another power amp that isnt a bigger IPR... :D

The sensitivity rating is really good with the IPR so it will play nice with a lot of pre's.

How dare you call me Jimmy, he is way older and uglier than I am...:D (actually he is a pretty cool cat, hence the quote in my sig).

I had an RBI. It was fantastic at what it did. It was also limited in what it did. I would recommend the RPM over it because it has sweepable mids.

That said I think the ART kicks both to the curb in a direct fashion. Way more versatility, way more control, better tone IMO. I think it can hang with the best of rack mount pre's as far as tone and options. Even better I got mine for $250 new, which really puts it ahead of the pack for value. I did a better write up a while ago actually.

Back on topic. The IPR kicks some major booty.
