Peavey Mark 3 problem

Browsing through the musical gear section on my local Craigslist page I came across a guy selling a Peavey Mark 3 bass head for $30. It's in great cosmetic shape, but of course the catch is it powers on, however no sound. I have found and received a lot of good information on TalkBass in the past so I am turning to anyone who may have knowledge of what the problem could be? I know it's a long shot to pin point it down to the exact problem without physically seeing and tampering with it and could also be any number of things causing it from not outputting and sound. However for $30 could it be a good deal to pick it up and then repair it? However I also don't want to pick it up only to find it will cost a lot to repair it, but know knows could be a nice amp.

I gotcha, yeah I was on the fence about it but figured it would not hurt to ask. I just looked and Guitar Center has a few for $100 or less like Floyd said they were pretty much worth anyways.

A lot depends on your motivation for wanting the head. For a financial investment-walk away. If you want a great head to keep and use without worrying about resale, buy it.
I used one for a long time. It blew up and was repaired 4 times BUT, I played it 5-7 nights a week, every week for 20 years and that's a lot of hours between breakdowns.
I had to do repairs from 1 resistor to replacing the whole final, power transistors and driver transistors.
I liked the head and I liked the sound, it was worth it to me.
Now I use a Carvin BX500 and a Markbass LM-III because I'm old and don't want to carry the Peavey anymore, but it's still a great sounding powerful amp for it's new owner.
