Its been on the backburner for quite a while, but around February of this year my Peavey Millennium 4 ACBXP was having some problems a night or two before a gig. I rebuilt my Foundation project bass I had laying around for use of the show, and never got back to fixing my Millennium, until recently I had only been using it for unplugged practice.
The first day of the problem, the bass hardly produced any sound at all. Zero low end, and sound was extremely faint. I replaced both batteries, figuring that was the problem, but this did not help. When the sound died out it was not slow, and slowly getting fuzzy, it was sudden, between band practice the night before and when I took it out of the case the next day. Currently, it will make sound, the pickup blend knob works full neck, 50/50, and full bridge- anything else is quiet or silent. With the 3-band EQ, to hear any low end the bass knob must be all the way up, treble has to be above halfway to not sound dead, and the mid knob must stay at halfway or it will get muddy, regardless of any other settings.
Has anyone else experienced this, does anyone know what the problem is or how I can fix it? I think it may be a fried pre-amp, but I'm stabbing in the dark.
