Question for Bobby (if he's still reading): Does the built-in tuner work with signals coming in through the FX loop return (i.e., if I'm using an external preamp, can I still expect the onboard tuner to work)?

Not a dealbreaker either way, I'm just wondering. I'm getting me one of these soon as I can. Kudos to Peavey for finally bringing out a $300 micro with a loop.

Good question. The tuner will only work with the instrument input jacks. That's pretty typical for products with built in tuners or tuner output jacks so that the preamp settings don't affect the tuner note tracking performance. If you use the return jack with a preamp, you can plug into the Max's input just to use the tuner since the return jack disconnects the internal preamp. If you used a preamp with a tuner send or parallel output or something like that you could patch it into the Max for convenience. When you use the tuner, it will mute the return jack, so you can still use the silent tuning feature.

another question for Bobby.......can you get someone to update the specs on the Peavey News page? .......it sure doesn't look like it will be: W: 14.75" H: 22" D: 27"

.....and maybe a click-able larger picture and rear panel shot


I do AutoCAD drafting for Engineers, Architects, Manufacturer's, so dimensions are my thing ;)

...this is good info to have. My pre does have two parallel outputs. I'll probably use the tuner on my MS60B most of the time anyway, but this is great info in case I'm on a gig and have somehow forgotten the thing at home. Thanks so much for the detailed / thoughtful response.
