ive been looking for a new amp head recently and im wondering which one of these amps is better in terms of tone. i mainly play 80s rock like guns n roses, def leppard a well as 90s grunge as well. my favourite bass tones are duff mckagans tone and rex brown. so which head would better help me achieve these tones.

thanks

I'd go for the Peavey every time when it comes to G-K, because I cannot stand G-K's overdrive sounds. Peavey is also LOUDER!
I don't mean louder because it's 600 Watts, I mean Peaveys are incredibly loud in the same Watts range as other amps.

G-K lovers will comment 'get the hybrid', but even the Fusion's overdriven sounds are the same as the 'regular' MB500.

The Peavey is a great amp. Own one now and loved it enough to sell an Aguilar TH350.

I haven’t played an MB 500 but owned a 500 Fusion which was much warmer and fatter than your typical GK. I owned an MB200 which I found to be a little sterile tone wise.

I’d go for a GK RB to really nail that Duff thing. The Peavey I’d say is a little better suited than the MB500 based off my experience with the 200.

I agree the non-classD GK's are a different animal for pure, strong and fast sound. I also agree that the overdrive's don't do much compared to others. I picked the Peavey because the MB series don't really do it for me. Now if it was the Peavey vs. the Legacy, that's another matter but the Legacy's are expensive. The Peavey really shines in functionality, sound, and PRICE.
