I liked the MM at the shop on electric just fine. The gig was another story, sadly. First set was all upright. I don't know what to say other than I'm used to the liveliness of the MB800/Felix at this point. The MM sounded kinda dead and wooden by contrast. Second set was mostly electric. It sounded 'fine' but lacked the punch and liveliness of the MB800/TH.

Third set started on electric and I switched back to the Aggie/MB800 and was much happier. Got my punch back and Id swear the MB800 responded more favorably to hand dynamics.

Fourth set, mostly upright. I'm not totally in love with the MB800 on upright, but I did prefer it over the MM. Better snap, thump and punch :)

I may have some time this weekend to really dial things in, but the first gig with the Peavey was a bit frustrating.

It wasn't all bad, btw. When I first fired up the MM the guitarist thought it was more open and clear sounding. He doesn't love too much low end and the MB800 can get a bit much in that department. It could be an eq thing because I just couldn't cut through in a band mix (no PA support) without being too loud. Maybe it's just that the MM isn't quite as plug and played as I'd hoped :)

Gig report. Much different insight, thanks for this.

Really would have not expected to hear this considering the EQ available on the MM. Was this just a needs too much hands on EQ, or a familiarity/speed thing?

Sounds like you're talking about feel and response things, is that about right?

I was optimistic at the shop because there is a good amount of clean eq available. My first attempt at gigging this amp just didn't quite do it for me. The amp felt a bit stiff and wooden. Not sure I can eq that away, but I'll keep chipping at it :)

I never even used it at my gig. Brought it and put it on top of my setup. Never even plugged it in. Decided I was happy with what I had so why mess around if I don't need to. If it ain't broke...
It did sound good in my practice room especially through the headphone out.

Probably not do-able with a doubling set up, at least without additional eq added somewhere like a pedal, but I'd be curious if bypassing the MM preamp was more to your liking. Thanks for the reports!

I have to chime in again. Another week with this amp and I am even more impressed. I tried a couple different preamps into the effects return, and it's just pure goodness. I'm a tube/lead sled amp guy all the way, and this is the first class D amp (at least I assume it's class D) that is in the same league. If this is what the next generation of class D amps is gonna sound like, I'm all in. I hope they come out with a rackmount kit for this. The power section alone in this thing is worth the price.
