I ran across this thread doing some Googling. I bought my Peavey Patriot from a friend in the late 80s and it's a 1985 model that looks exactly like the '87 you posted. I've played a lot of basses and my other primary instrument is a 1991 Fender P-Bass Lyte, but I always "come home" to my Patriot because it gets a woody plunk that's straight out of the late 60s and early 70s. When you drive it, depending on how you flavor your amp settings, it sounds very close to Jack Bruce, John Paul Jones, and Geezer Butler. I also love how it honks when you roll the tone knob all the way down. I bought it for $75 and I will never part with it. Cheers, mate!
