Howdy ALL:
I'm playing in a 3 piece, currently guitar bass drums. Will probably add a fourth later.
We'll be doing some smallish outdoor gigs and clubs and need some PA speaks. Occasional gigs, not weekly.... I currently have a 16 channel mixer and a Crown XLS-202D amp that is 200/channel at 8 ohms.
I'm looking at the Peavey PR10 speakers - you can get them at Guitar Center for about 150 each. They are light, space efficient, and from what I've read they sound good between sets playing DJ music. I know other PA speaks don't sound very good for sound reproduction.
I'm wondering who has experience with these and can comment how they would handle vocals/monitoring for a loud band? We would mostly use them for vocal duty, some snare/kick maybe, and maybe my Little Phatty synth. Maybe my bass, but my rigs are pretty loud and I don't think we will be playing anyplace large enough to need reinforcement.
I looked at spending the extra 20 each for the PR12s - would it really make much difference in the low end?
I'm already planning an upgrade path to add another Crown AMP XLS-303D and the Peavey PR sub if we really need it later for low end.
Thanks,
CM
