Peavey T-20 FL, worth it?

$200 sounds like a pretty good price, as long as it's in nice shape and all there, including all the little doo-dads that originally came with it. And is designated "FL" on the headstock.
I'd be surprised if it's light weight. Less hardware and such than a T-40, but still in the T family of bruisers.
I know it sounds silly for a bass in this price range, but these old Peaveys are genuine certified USA vintage guitars. They have a fan base, and there are avid collectors out there. Originality does affect value.
Add points for metallic finishes and a felt-lined coffin case.
Deduct points for broken/missing or non-original parts, like knobs, bridge, tuners, pickguard, pickup surround, truss rod cover.
Here's my T20. It was fully 10 lbs or I'd still have it. It had a cool baked-in "plonk" sound that was to die for. FWIW, the T-20 Super Ferrite pickup is unique, different than the other Peavey SF pickups. If I ever come across a <9 pounder, I'll pay a premium to get it.
Nice. Here is my '83 Fury & got two weeks ago for $50. Just by comparing I guess the T-20 & Fury are very similar. Would love to find a jazz width neck to put on the Fury, I just can't play a wide neck
IIRC, the Fury was the replacement for the T-20, but I am not really sure if the differences. Bridge looks diffetent

Try a Foundation neck on the Fury. I put a T 40 neck on both a Foundation and Patriot so I know the neck pockets the same.
Good chance you'll need to change the saddle screws,either longer or shorter I can't remember of the top of my head how
long a Fury neck is. But it's an easy fix.

I own a '89 Foundation & love it so I may try to find another one and use the neck from it. I also have a '87 Patriot that also has a wide neck & would like to find a thinner jazz neck for it also. Would love to have both the Fury & Patriot to complement the Foundation

Yea, I saw that. But, I just bought the Fury & a Squire pbass in the last two weeks plus with Christmas kinda tapped out on gear for a while. But, sure would love to give it a good homeIn SE MO? See my previous post...
Early slant super ferrite Fury's are sleeker body than the T20 so should be lighter as a general rule.
Later model Fury's with split P pup have a narrower neck at the nut than the super ferrites and should be a drop in fit in the neck pocket. They are also thinner and more D than C shaped.

Speaking of older Peaveys. Here is a pic I posted last year of Ritchie Blackmore playing Roger Glovers Foundation. Story goes that during certain concerts they would swap out on "Smoke on the water"

Back to my "new" T-20FL. I disassembled and cleaned it last night and it's in pretty good shape! It needs a neck adjustment but I don't have the right wrench for it, so it's off to my local repair guy sometime this week. Other than that, it's good to go!

Hey guys this is the most recent thread so I'm reviving it heh heh. The pick up and the casing around it where the screws are is moving around all of the sudden whereas before it was rock solid. I opened her up to take a look and have just put her back together. She's all loose and stuff. Any idea why?
Well if the screws have bored out the holes from being played pushed and removed and put back in, they are probably worn out. Since they are unseen holes, a toothpick and some wood glue should fix them right up. Quick and easy, cheap and durable. Oh, I would also check the foam that is under the pickup. Or are they springs. Can't remember. Replace it. Cheap foam can be found. Best what I use are foam flip flops from the Dollar Store. Cut them up to size and they are the perfect thickness and feel for under a pickup
I'll have to go the foam route i'm guessing. Just confused as to why the brown finger rest around the pickup didn't budge at all when I got it up until I took a look inside for the first time. There was no foam or springs underneath the pickup either.

There's something I hadn't considered. Anybody know offhand if the pickup ring is attached somehow to the pickguard? Like, maybe it was glued and i dislodged inadvertantly?
