Peavey T-40 pickups and wiring - cut red wire?

No load pots are removed from the circuit when on '10.' No resistance=extra highs not bled to ground. Even on 10, a standard tone control still loads the circuit a little.

thank you! Another question, I'd like to ditch the pickup ring and mount the pup right into the pickguard (custom cut). Is this possible, with pickup mounting screws and springs?

They can be mounted that way, sure.

Ok, got the pickups. Any insight on what's going on here? Looks like a white wire, and a red, black, and bare tied together. And these red and black on the ends are just extender wires it appears..?

Hey!
I opened up the bass and tried the ABY wiring for that pickup and it worked perfectly! Rotated the pickup back 180 degrees and now I get inside coils, hum cancelling in split mode!

BUT!
I've been thinking a lot about re-wiring my T-40.
What I would like to do is have the phase switch control the Neck pickup, and have the inside coils of both pickups as the "standard", or default.
ie, the bridge in single coil mode will always be the inside coil.
Maintaining the standard Tone split for each PU.

Would I be correct in thinking the easiest way to achieve this would be to follow the standard wiring diagram, but swapping where the neck and bridge wires head to, then to rotate my Bridge PU 180deg?

The easy part for my limited knowledge is putting the Phase wiring on the Neck pickup, the question I have is can you just wire the Green lead on the bridge, or do I need to wire the white to volume and rotate 180deg. My intent is to have the inside coil active on the bridge on single coil mode.
