Peavey T40 - Push the Button?

OK so i'm GASSing out here. Always heard about T40s, played a couple back in the day, always wanted to pick one up some day. Here's the deal: I can pick up a VGC T40 with OHSC for $500 online. Was told that everything works, ready to gig. Reasonable? I'm tilting strongly in that direction but just wanted a little input before I decide. Obviously I know about the weight - not really an issue for me. I really like the versatility. Can't remember how the necks are, or if the balance is good. Would appreciate your thoughts.
(GC so it's returnable.)

If it is in good shape and includes the Peavey OHSC. I especially like the older ones with the exposed blade pole pieces in the pups.
I have an '82 T-40 and an '83 T-45 and both sound, play and look great.
Make sure it has original electronics and pups and it all works otherwise it really isn't worth getting IMHO as it won't emulate the basses it is supposed to emulate which makes the T-40 special. Even the T-45 has some special things about its electronics and pup. To me it is amazing that the T-40 does what it does and is not active. It is even more amazing that no modern bass that I know of can do what this bass can do as far as having settings to emulate other basses that had particular sounds.

Okay, so it’s been a little over a week now...did you jump?

You wont be sorry...its a great flexible unique bass guitar. Bought my 1979 model (toaster pups) second hand here in Australia for $600AUD (about $450USD) back in April of this year and I love the bass. I also use a 4" wide strap with it to spread the weight a bit. Mine weighs in at 10.8lbs which is a lighter one. Good luck with it and hope you love it as much as I love mine.

I was worried about the width, but when I got it in my hand---it was just natural. as @lug said----it is thinner front to back than at least the p's I have and have tried.

and a little gas for you
