peavey t40 restoration

It's still heavy even though it's missing a big chunk of wood in the middle? I ask because I restored a T40 that someone had sandblasted, painted black, and routed a space for a split humbucker between the factory pickup routes. I was considering removing that wood and everything else hidden by the pick guard in an attempt to reduce the weight. Now I'm thinking it might not be worth the effort.

yep it is pretty heavy. Less than my accordion tho
