Peavey TNT 100 - any thoughts?

Hi! I'm planning to buy a Peavey TNT 100 combo. I've heard good things about old Peaveys and this one is for sale for quite cheap too.

I was just wondering if it'll have enough power to play heavy music with a band (2 gtrs, drums, bass)? Any experiences anyone?

I bought a Peavey TNT 130 when I was 19 and sold it when I was 33.

It was LOUD, and so heavy I couldn't lift it by the handle alone. I had the grab the handle, tilt the amp onto my thigh then lift it in a bear hug. It sounded OK, but the weight was prohibitive. 35-40kg (77-88lbs)

If the TNT 100 has a "15 Black Widow, I'd expect the weight to be similar. Not sure about its ability to keep up with a full rock band though.

If you're young and strong, or not going to be moving it much, give it a whirl. If you're not as strong as you once were, there are better, less heavy, more powerful options out there.

My first bass amp (combo) was a TNT100 from the later 70's. It will hang well with disciplined players in small to medium sized venues. It is very heavy and quite awkward to carry for any distance by the top mounted handle. If you get it, buy a cart to help you move it.

I used mine a lot (like 1000's of hours on it) and when I sold it, the report was that it was still working fine years later. It will not keep up with loud expectric guitars and keyboards plus heavy handed drummers. For a group with a couple guitars and vocals with light to moderate percussion it should be okay.

My first bass amp was the TNT 100 which I bought used in 1980. I agree with the others that it’s probably not enough power for a two guitar rock band. The band I was playing with then was also a two guitar classic rock outfit and I had it cranked all the time to the point where I eventually smoked the Black Widow and had to replace the speaker. Definitely a decent entry level unit though.
