Peavey Tour 410 cab and 450 head

Well I think I actually found and got a deal on Craigslist.

I went to look at a Peavey Tour 410 cab and Peavey 450 head that was brand new, still in the boxes. Retail is $599 for the 410 and $399. for the 450 head. As almost everything on Craigslist, I questioned. I talked to the person that selling it and they advised that they had won in a give away and they dont play bass. Come to find out he was on those persons that enter many giveaways to just win them.

So I went and checked it out. Brand new. Sent directly from Peavey to the person selling it at the end of November. He had the boxes, letters and so forth. Had never been plugged in or even touched.

After some barting and showing him the cash, $450., I took it home.

I think I scored pretty big. Sounds great and blows away my Fender bassman 150 away. Nice clean sound and the amp head is acually pretty easy to use and versitile.

Only issue I had was explaining to the wife of the great deal I got. Kind of hard to hide a 410 cabinet. My 6 year old gave me away by saying "nice" when he saw it, in front of the wife.

First time I bought something from Craigslist, because it seems stuff is sometime overpriced or questionable.

Score Baby! You got a hell of a deal! I have an older Peavey 410tvx and it still sounds like g*d, so if the newer Tour series sounds anyting like the tvx series you are in for a good time, for a long time.

Let us know how it sounds when you light it up.

Sounding Great. Not a bit disappointed.

I thought the graphic equalizer was going to be difficult to use on the head but actually I can really dial in on some tones and it is very easy to use. I like the bypass switch for the equalizer. The octavator button really gives it some very low bottom end, real low.

Lovin the 410. Sounds clear and tight with a wide range of sounds. Very impressed so far.

I have a Jazz and P, this may seem odd but the P seems to just go off the hook with this set up and just sounds so right. The jazz sounds good but nothing like the P. Maybe its just me? Sometimes my favorite is the P then the Jazz then back to the P. But the sound the Peavey head and cab gives off on the P is just plain awesome for some reason. Maybe I just got the equalizer dialed in just right for the P? Its hard for me to let go of my P when laying it down with the Peavey.

If you can get a new 700 tour head and tour 410 for $598. And a tour 115 for $199. What are you waiting for? Is this a Peavey?
Jump on it. You would have a great setup and the 700 is just going to smoke with the 410 and 115. You will be heard.
Bassplayer magazine had a very nice write up on the Peavey 700 head and 410 cabnet, it got their award (take it for what it is worth). The review is also on bassplayer TV.

Yup, same deal here. They had the 410 for $299 and the 115 for $199. I almost took the whole stack, but realized I'm probably never gonna need it for the places I play. I walked out with the 410 only. I'm really happy with the sound and weight of the cab. Hearing my Spector Legend 5 strung with new Hi Beams through it just puts an ear to ear grin on my face every time. No problems handling the low B. I have to be careful because the first time I cranked it up it vibrated some stuff off the bookcase shelves. ;)
