Now, I'm not asking which is better, I'm simply asking how the VB-2 COMPARES to the SVT CL. Does anybody with a VB-2 or experience with one care to chime in?

the VB-2 is pretty badass I can tell you that. Its loud as hell if you got enough cabs, I use 2 4x10's but 1 is still pretty loud. There are a lot of tonal options if you play with the settings, and it takes some work but I can get very close to the SVT overdrive sound with the distortion channel and some proper eq-ing.

I have a VB-2. Very nice amp for the price. Much lighter then a SVT.
A VB-2 is NOT a SVT. If you want a SVT get a SVT but play a VB-2 to see if you are happy with it.
I got a great deal on mine and figured it would hold me over until I get a SVT. Two years later I have no desire for a SVT (Fender Bassman 100T Yes)

I have a VB-2. I have had it awhile but it is at my drummer's house and I only really get to use it during band practice hence I don't get to mess with the settings much. I will tell you with the eq flat it does not really come close to the flat setting of an SVT. This is not to say that you can't make it sound similar with eq, but to me one of the most amazing things about an SVT is it sounds amazing flat and as you eq it sounds better.
The VB-2 set flat sounds sort of boring. Luckily there is an EQ and as you adjust it the amp comes to life.
On one post Bobby mentions that the amp was built so that it could mimic an old masterless amp by turning the master almost all the way up and then slowly turning the pre to the desired volume. Personally, I love this setting and it gets a lot closer to the chunky tube sound I was hoping for when I bought this amp.
