Peavy Max power ratings

Sorry if this has been discussed: I did a few searches and didn't find anything. I did find a similar question at the Peavy forums, but it seems no one has answered it.

I'm a bit confused by the power ratings of the Peavy Max series. For example, the Max 150 says it's 150 watts on the specific Peavy product page and in the brochure, but then manual says it's 120 (rms) into 4 ohms (which sounds like they're assuming an extension cab?). Perhaps the 150 is a peak rating? This comes up for all the Max series amps.

Just curious if anyone has an insight, thanks in advance!

I wondered the same thing and sent the question to Peavey's customer service email address last summer. I got an automated reply, but no response to my question. I sent a follow-up question a few months later and received no response again. I then joined the Peavey Forum and posted the question there as well ... no responses.

Perhaps @Fred from Peavey could shed some light to help you out?

As for me, I gave up and bought something else.
