Sounds like it's from eithe an outside source causing line noise OR it's an intermittent failure (ground connection / bad cable etc.)

Yea man. I just don't know. Going to try another outlet, cable tomorrow. One thing I know is it's not the amp or bass. So it's either my wall outlet or the cab. I'm suspicious that it's the outlet but I have no clue. I'm pissed because I moved all my stuff today and it took me like an hour. So annoying.

Today my bass teacher gave me an advance copy of the album he and a local singer/songwriter have been working on for a while.

My god, it's amazing. Seriously. If/when a download link becomes available I am definitely posting it. It's too good to not be shared with the world.

EDIT: The opening track is available to listen to here: Rockwood Ferry

I like that video. I really like music that is recorded all tracks at once in a studio.

Make sure you try just the bass and amp. Also, is it worse if you jiggle the cable? Maybe the output jack on your bass is going/loose? Tried a different bass? Grounding issue on there?

I tried a different bass, direct in, different cable. One thing I changed is a put my cab on top of a wooden pallets (it's a special made one). I wonder if raising it up off the floor is causing it to act wacky somehow?

Have now spent some good time with the Fifth Gear V1 and have come to the conclusion that I really like the simplicity and tone of the pedal. The range on the dial is really wide, and the volume control on the bass cleans it up well too. The Tone Hammer and Xerograph love it too which is critical for this position in the chain. Pushing the Tone Hammer with the 5th is a great thing that both the OCD and RAT have done well in the past. Different flavours between each, but the 5th is probably the most useable in the range of sounds without getting into all out distortion. It's no slouch here either.

I need to spend some time with the SubT running into it, but I'm sure that it will do some great things too. I don't feel so bad for moving my Rat to the Guitar / Synth board, probably bumping the V4 OCD.

Great, great pedal the Fifth Gear, and a great name for it too in the way it either cruises along or tops the toanz out.

Currently working on this monster... I need to mount the Voodoo and TREX underneath before she gets plugged in again, but the range of sounds I get out of this are amazing.

The chain is a bit complicated, so bear with me:

Korg tuner > Demeter Compulator > Boss OC-2 > Wounded Paw Wah Blender > [signal chains below] > EHX Freeze > Diamond Tremolo > AMP
Signal 1: VT Bass Deluxe
Signal 2*: Bit Commander > Rat Tail > Depth Charge > Sputnik > LTD > Little Big Muff

The VT has all my fundamental sounds banked, with the Wah blender allowing me to dial in any of the other pedals on-the-fly.

*Right now the exact pedals/order in Signal 2 is not finalized... ever, lol

Sort of but not quite. There's a warmth there that I've found hard to achieve with tone and finger control.

Nothing that a set of the right flats won't get you, which if you're going for that vibe should have been on there already.

Or I could just EQ it in but I didn't feel like turning knobs.

I'm totally buying myself a BTB. What an amazing instrument. Ibanez killed it with these things. Played a 405qmr and it was like absolute heaven.

They sound pretty good but that neck is just not for me. It feels like a 2x4. Then again, I have small hands for someone who only plays 5 strings.

I find the thicker neck quite comfortable actually.

For the record I have tiny hands.

The Little Big Muff mildly triggers me, but otherwise great board!

Would the IE Divaricator work for this @Taylor Livingston?

Here's what the manual says, I already have one too, which is a huge plus.

Frequency splitter: Using an insert cable, this jack can be used to split high frequencies and low frequencies to different signal chains or amps. Generate distorted upper octaves and send them to a guitar amp, while your low frequencies continue to your bass amp. The bypass switch now bypasses your guitar chain, so you can turn it on to fill up space when the guitarist solos, for example.

That was one of the applications I had in mind for the Divaricator - give it a try and see what you think. I think if I say anything more it might step over that CUP line. ;)

Back when I used to be in a rock band...

Finally got *one* rough mix back from the engineer of the album we recorded last year, my now defunct band. When the album is finally finished we will probably play one show/CD release party and then go back to calling it quits, lol.

The bass part is very basic on this one, a shame I didn't get a mix of one of the more interesting bass parts for you guys.
