Double Bass Pedal to reduce volume?

I used the Ernie Ball pedal for years when I was doing more pit work and doubling. I'm sure there are higher-quality pedals, but it's well built and very simple, easy to repair and modify. It does suck some signal power, but a preamp helps a lot with that. For those who don't already know, the advantage is being able to micro-adjust instantly on the fly, no switches or preplanning involved, when dealing with unexpected changes. Adjusting technique is always first, of course, but if the drummer or singer is having an off night, for example, you may need a little more dynamic range in the gear for a given passage or attack effect.

Hey Steven- Thanks for the advice. Bought the Fishman Platinum. But looking at affordable used pedals now too. You’re using the Ernie Ball 2500k Jr via effects loop?

I really appreciate all of the terrific suggestions here. I decided to put the Fishman Platinum Pro in my emergency kit and use the Radial BigShot ABY switch instead to manage my pizz/arco volume issue. It works great with my two channel AI Clarus SL-2. I thought I’d put the final solution in this thread for the benefit of others who are looking for an effective solution for this problem.
