Pedalboard Wiring???

Hey, Anyone have any links to pedalboard wiring schemes, diagrams, ideas etc? I've searched on here and a bit online but couldn't really find anything.

I know little about wiring and the best way to approach wiring schemes etc... In the middle of designing a pedalboard w/ all sorts of crazy stuff and am getting to this point.

Anything is a big help :) Thanks

yea thats all i could think he means

great name, dick tree...

Heh thanks, it's my band's name from high school.

Anyway, to the OP, what effect pedals do you have? There is no right way to order your pedals. But there are some typical orders that you could try out. To put them together you will need some patch cables, your pedal(s), your bass, and your amp.

Typically pedals will have an input jack and an output jack. Your bass goes into the input jack, and then a patch cable goes out the output jack and into the next pedal's input jack, and so on. The final pedal's output jack will lead to your amp.

I don't have nearly as many types of pedals as some people here, but this is how I ordered my pedals

Bass --> Boss OC-2 (octave pedal) --> EHX Big Muff Pi (russian version) (fuzz/distortion) --> Dunlop Crybaby (wah pedal) --> EHX Memory Boy (delay pedal) --> Amp

It really is as easy as plugging an instrument cable into your guitar, the other end to a pedal, patch cable (6" is most common) in between each pedal, instrument cable connected out of the last pedal, and into the input of the amp.

Secondly, you'll have to figure out how to power all your stomps. Technically, you could battery power all of the pedals. This isn't practical because of the unpredictability of each battery's power sustainability to it's pedal. A power distributor like the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 is the best way to go. These can power up to 8 individual effects. It does take up real estate on your pedalboard but can be hid underneath a few stomp.

How you place the order of pedals is simply how it works for you. This is really where the work is most important, IMO. But once you have them down you can wire them as cleanly as you want on your pedalboard with plastic zip ties. Good luck.
