Pedalboards for Bass VI

@GvsGabe Wow on your Avatar! Bass VI and the highly sought-after Baritone Jazzmaster! Are they both setup and tuned the same? How do they compare?

The Squier Bass VI is tuned in Eb standard. The Antigua baritone is in drop B. It’s amazing the range of tunings you can achieve on a 30” scale. I LOVE BOTH GUITARS.
I went on a tear this year and also bought a red Fender Pawn Bass VI and a Fender Jaguar Baritone HH. And then I went even crazier and just bought another Squier Bass Vi with a rosewood neck and a staytrem. Pretty much justified the purchase for the staytrem alone.
I use them all for different tunings. Definitely loving the 30” scale.
Oh, and the last (ha) guitar on my list is the 28.5” scale Fender Jaguar Baritone. Hard to find those!

Thanks. Yes, did it myself. To be honest, it was a huge pita and it turned out far from perfect if you see it up close. There are several sand-throughs, a handful of flies burried in the clear and a huge crack on the back from moisture in a neck screw hole from wet sanding. Thank god the front looks good...
The color is "Silberdistel Metallic" ("thistle green metallic") and was used by Mercedes in the 80s.
I think I used a set of strings with a 95 for the low E. I have to restring most of my guitars this month and was going to do some experimenting. I’ll post about it.
And yes, a fam photo will be coming.

I’m definitely one of those guys. Here’s my collection of bass vi and baritones. Happy to talk about pedal boards. I have a bass chain and a guitar chain. Took a lot of experimenting.
I figured this out last night. The only way to split a guitar signal without using a buffer on one channel. My EQD Hoof Reaper doesn’t like a buffer, so I hooked up a DI into a eventide mixLink to boost the DI signal back to instrument level for the 2nd channel. Voila, 2 guitar signals without having to buffer the main signal that runs into the fuzz:

Reviving this thread to get some thoughts from more experienced bass vi players. I keep getting underwhelmed when I see bass vi and baritones live, so I've been planning out a way to make it really work. I'm thinking a split signal setup might be the trick. Please forgive this description as I'm not sure how to write out the signal chain I'm envisioning, but it's fairly simple: Harley Benton GuitarBass -> tuner -> A/B/Y splitter => dUg Flyrig Y Sansamp guitar Flyrig => FoH or powered PA speaker.
I hope that makes sense. I feel like the dUg (or any of my bass preamps, really) feeding into a channel while the guitar preamp feeds another channel and just going direct to a good PA could actually achieve a full spectrum sound. I have a Samson powered PA speaker with an upgraded Eminence speaker that should be able to handle it, which I could treat like an amp/monitor. What do you think?

Depends on what you're trying to achieve.
I don't play my VI like a bass or a guitar. Typically, I like it more as an ambient instrument, or doubling a guitar or other bass instrument. I haven't tried it live yet but I have a TC Electronic Mimiq for doubling, and at least in headphones, it really widens the sound.
A purely split signal can make the sound a bit fuller if you're missing something going through just one amp or channel. The more processing you add, the better the effect, like high-passing the signal going to a guitar chain and low-passing the signal going to a bass chain. That's a little too complex to me without experience in a live setting and I'm happy with the doubler right now, but I would consider it in the future.

probably the best thread revival I have seen in a long time, I need to use my bass VI more.
I'm not happy with the selection of bass VI's available, I may need to build one (hate 7ender offsets)
I have an eastwood sidejack, and it's tolerable, and for function I may get a schecter hellcat.
The Schecters are great. I had an Ultra VI for a few weeks. Great quality.
For many dollars less, the Harley Benton Guitarbass is excellent for the money, and well worth modding if you're into that. I put a Gotoh Nashville bridge saddle on the one I used to own to improve intonatability with different strings.
I sold the HB GB when I got a custom from Rukavina, then I built another VI from a DC Kunkle conversion neck and a Tele body. Now I'm looking at building another with a DC Kunkle neck and a St. Vincent copy body I just saw on eBay.
