pedals for country/folk rock

I have mainly played classic rock but plan to move into country/folk rock. I think I will be fine with just a tuner and compressor.

Compressor is all you need. A 5 string helps though. Nice to have the lower 5th to drop down to on those country tunes .

I used to play that one in the 1970’s.
The only thing between my bass and amp was a curly cord. It was rare to see an electronic tuner back then.

I use the same with the addition of a chorus...it's a built-in on my fly-rig and fits in nicely with some of the ballads. It's been my stock-in-trade for the past two decades. OTOH, the guitarists have a field day in this arena,

Playing in a country band now— tuner, compressor, and a chorus (listen to the opening bass part in I Shoulda Been a Cowboy). I’ve found other uses for it too…
A five string is very helpful for many modern country songs, less so for songs written before the 90’s.

Have fun— it’s cooler (and harder) than you might think.

I don't use any pedals for my country/rock band, just a P bass straight into the amp. My bass stays in tune for a whole set so I don't really need a tuning pedal either. I just use one of these.

I currently play in a predominately 90’s country group… a nice compressor and preamp is about all you “need.” I have a boost that I use for the bass solo in “God Blessed Texas,” and other sections like “Should Have Been a Cowboy,” a Nobels ODR-B setup for songs that need a little more saturation and that’s pretty much it. 5 string is necessary imo
