I know what I like for my dirty dirt my MXR GT-OD into the dirt of the sansamp BDdi but enough ppl have thrown ideas around for u to make a call.

My post here is for your thoughts on a gate for noise. Personally I HATE noise unless its me playin so the best solution is the >>>ISP decimator<<< man that thing is the BEST! so simple and works to the exact point where u can have noise free great sustain.
Really somethin to look for, and if your thinkin sansamp then run the ISP in the fx loop last coz it also cuts the unwanted noise on the DI out.

I would not go with a Sansamp if you're going with a fuzzed-out sound already. To me, a Sansamp is more to slightly dirty-up or tube-ify a cleaner tone.

True, I didn't consider the part where the OP said he'd be running an always-on fuzz. The VT Bass is more of an always-on pedal for dirty-clean to slightly overdriven tones (shameless plug: what you hear in U.N. Squadron / Area 88 (level 1) - remix by Grospixels - YouTube is the setting I run my VT at most times -- think "Cheap Trick"). It can do distorsion, but as someone said, it gets noisy when you have both the character and drive knobs past 12 o' clock.

So yeah, if you're gonna have a Muff on all the time, it's going to dominate your sound no matter what. Forget about SansAmps and focus on a good octaver (the Micro-POG seems to get the best reviews here, as far as tracking is concerned).

Reading the OP question again, if you want a distortion pedal which is always on you could look at the Onkart Gromt Grombass pedal. It is a bass dedicated distortion pedal which have led, germanium and silicon diodes. Switching between the 3 diodes gives you OD to full fuzz possibilities. In addition there are 2 filters and something like presence switches. It is a very cool pedal which creates very little noise.

I forgot to mention in my post the Rocktron Black Cat Moan. It has a built in distortion that sounds killer. I use it sometime as a stand alone unit and it really sounds great. You can mix it into the wah too which is really wicked.

I have a custom fuzz for sale (I'm in the UK)- its a compressed heavy fuzz tone built around a DOD Grunge pedal. Its a great, heavy fuzz but my W&C PPB is my go to fuzz for now. I've PM'd you a link to some sound clips. I also have a Demeter FOD which adds a nice touch of grit for the always on edgy tone. Adds a nice presence to the bass tone. I'm gonna check your soundcloud on my home puter as cannae hear it on work pc.

I'm currently using a W&C PPB fuzz thats doing the dirty for my sound. I use a W&C phat phuk too for puttin' some stank on the clean sound. I sometimes add a Boss ODB-3 with the phat phuk for the driven dirt sound. I do all this through an a/b box with the fuzz in ch A and the Phat and ODB-3 in ch B. Great set up!
