pedaltrain question

so i have a pt-2, and a voodoo PP2+ mounted underneath with the supplied hardware. the problem ive run into is now that the PP2+ is full, i still have extra space on the board, but nowhere to mount another power supply. does anybody know of any place that sells just the bracket so i can mount another power supply? or if i could even fit another one under? i have room for a reverb, octave and another delay, and its killing me that i can use them. and yes i know i could just get a power strip or something dumb like that, but i'm all about a clean board, and i love the PP2+. cheers

You need daisy chain cable, so you can connect few pedals to only one PP2+ output.

Something like this:

not to bother you... but wouldn't a daisy chain make your expansive, high quality PP2+ useless?

Well, it would definately not make it "useless", but the pedals that are on the daisy chain would not be isolated obviously...You would also need to use one of the higher output jacks off the PP2+...

I have no idea what the pedals are you are using, but you can also daisy chain off of a couple of different tuners, like the Peterson strobostomp, and the Boss TU-2...

yeah. thats kind of a problem. i want the isolated quality of the pp2+, but dunno if i could fit it under my board. and the 3 pedals i need to hook up are a boss rv-2, which has a high milliamp whatever, a foxrox octron, and either a boss dm-2 or dd3 depending which sounds better, maybe both.

You can easily get the current draws for those pedals from the Roland manuals and a number of different charts online. Do a little addition, and you're set. ;)

Besides, you're not really losing anything by daisy-chaining those particular pedals. If isolation advantages are your concern, pair up the pedals and run each pair on a separate outlet (this requires two daisy chains). But IMHO, the odds of you noticing a difference in practice are slim-to-none in this particular case.

My #1 suggestion is to re-evaluate how you're powering everything. Isolate the "problem" pedals on their own outputs first, and then bring in the easy ones (like newer Boss pedals), daisy-chaining those as needed. That's a win-win situation. ;)

Isolated outputs are incredibly useful, but I think there are too many people in this forum who over-stress the uncommon scenarios where isolation is an absolute necessity.

Yeah, there's plenty of room under the PT-2. But you'll need to drill a lot of new holes to accomodate the repositioned PP2+ units.

But before we jump to that... can you post your chain? I'd like to see what you're running. I'm sure with a little investigation, we can develop the best approach without needless expense.

chain is as follows- ehx boost- barge vbjr- fulltone mosfet bassdrive- pickle pie fuzz- ehx nano small stone- dl4- boss dm2- boss rv2. the only thing thats not in the loop of the vbjr is the boost. looking to add a foxrox octron when i have the money, but other than tat im pretty set.

Sorry, I've been dealing with some really bizarre events IRL...

Hmm... let's see:

EHX LPB-1: < 2mA (Any outlet)
Barge VB-Jr.: ??? (It can't be much... it's only an analog blend circuit) (Any outlet)
Fulltone Mosfet Bassdrive: ~ 35mA? (if it's like its brother, the Fulldrive) (Any outlet)
Pickle Pie Fuzz: < 10mA? (it can't be much more than the Big Muff, I suspect) (Any outlet)
EHX Nano Small Stone: ??? (likely under 20mA...) (Any outlet)
Line 6 DL4: N/A (it has to be on its own outlet) (Outlet 5/6)
Boss DM-2: 11ma (Boss ACA) (Outlet 1/2/3/4)
Boss RV-2: 130mA (Outlet 5/6)
Foxrox Octron: 12mA (Any outlet)

So here's what I'm imagining:

O1: Boss DM-2 (dip switch ON)
O2: EHX LPB-1 + EHX Nano Small Stone (daisy-chain)
O3: Fulltone Mosfet Bassdrive
O4: Barge VB-Jr.
O5: Line 6 DL4 (dip switch ON)
O6: Boss RV-2

O7: Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie Fuzz
O8: Foxrox Octron

Because the LPB-1 draws so little, it could almost always be tossed in with something else in a daisy chain other than the weird ones that need their own outlets. Note that the outlet assignments above are not absolute. Just follow the earlier notes to see their needs and re-arrange as desired.

Although some of this information can be admittedly difficult to find, you don't need to know the exact specs of all of your pedals to pull this off - just which ones will be clear problems (i.e., positive-ground, high current, etc.).
