pedaltrain question

The DM-2 needs the BOSS ACA adapter (unregulated 9-12V) since it is an older pedal before the ACA was discontinued on smaller pedals and replaced with the PSA. The pedal still works on 9v, but it internally reduces the voltage through use of a diode and resister pair. Putting the dip switch up on that output changes it to 12V 60mA instead of the standard 9v 100mA.

+1 to what Mutt said. Outputs 1-4 on the PP2+ have an "ACA mode" which allows you to run those pedals on the voltage they're meant to operate on if used on an adapter.

Because the dip switch boosts the voltage to 12VDC, it also has other practical applications as well. For example, the old EHX Bass Micro Synth required 24VDC to run, but by using a Y-cable to link two PP2+ outputs in ACA mode, you could create the necessary 24VDC.
