I just ordered a used Ampeg SVT810E for $400 in "great condition" from a guitar center almost $475. How does everyone feel about these cabs I've never played through one. What are good budget heads that can supply sufficient power?

P.S. I know its heavy i didn't buy an 810 expecting it to be Feather weight

My favorite cab ever. And any budget head can supply it enough power to give it a good head of steam, and I've actually gotten semi-decently loud with a 25w B-15N tube amp, but I'd particularly recommend the PF350. Less than $300 new, 350w, looks a little funny sitting on that giant cab but sounds like Ampeg.

i prefer solid state heads maybe something rack mountable. This is the first time i have been in the market for a new head and its a piece of equipment I've never put much thought into. I currently have a Behringer B1800h 180 watt head that i like but i don't feel like its enough power for the cab.

I know surface area of speakers is a bigger factor the wattage really is. I plan on trying my current head out but Im looking for another one so i can keep a rig at the drummers house and at home. Im not a fan of the PF350 because its small so i would need a case but it won't fit in a rack mount. my Behringer is built like a tank.

thats the thing, there are so many on the market i don't know where to start. My first amp is the one i have now. Ive never owned a combo amp and I really don't know what I'm looking for in a head. Guitar center has 350 heads on their website. Im kinda just looking for something to use for power as i plan on getting a rack mount EQ tuner and other eye candy. most of my tone i believe comes from my basses and my pedal board which has everything in it.

I've been playing for over 40 years and used a rack once, for about 4 years then gave it up. Unless you are doing a preamp and PA power amp it just added weight and bulk at load-in, load-out. Not worth the carry. IME of course. Rack or pedal EQ's IMO just detract from what your hands are doing. YMMV

Since you're saying budget, rackmounted, enough power for the 810, I think you have to prioritise:
What is more important: your budget? Having enough power? The rackmountability?
This because rackmountable heads like the Ampeg 4Pro and 7Pro aren't really budget-amps.
If your budget is lower, then I would go for the non-rackmounted PF800, which is a great amp IMHO (that's the one I have...).
Since my preferred brand is Ampeg, I only suggested these amps, but it depends what your taste is, ofcourse.

I was just told by Guitar center that the cabinet I ordered friday will not ship until this Friday because the store somehow does not have pallets to ship it on.
Looks like guitar center managed to surprise me yet again on their bad customer service that I have grown to expect

That definitely sucks and has to be annoying, but you're still getting a sweet cab at a really nice price. :D
