People with weird odors

I know two people how have repulsive odors. Both of them have different odors but neither are pleasant. It doesn't smell like bad breath, sweat or cologne. I can't identify what it is.
One is a co-worker and her odor does match her personality. She is aggressive, contentious and always right. I can be listening to music on my Ipod and tell when she is approaching before I see her. The odor makes me want to retch. It would not be appropriate to mention this at work and I know it would not go over well with her. I would be in front of human resources quicker than you can say "Tuna noodle casserole."
Another is a good friend. He has stayed in my home before and every time I have to air out the room when he leaves. I can't really describe the odor for this guy either. His is not as strong as my co-worker. I have never had the heart to say anything to him, I know he would be hurt by it. How can such a sweet guy have a sour odor?
Of course there may be people who think I smell bad. Who knows? My wife has no problem telling me when I have B.O. Usually after a hard ride on my bike.
Does anyone else notice this or is my nose too sensitive.

You're not the only one. I often notice smells that other people don't. One that has been observed by others is an obnoxious, know-it-all coworker who smells like a mouldering, burned pile of dirty laundry. His wife must have no sense of smell because I don't understand how she can be around him without getting nauseous.

It's usually something in that person's diet. The Native Americans that live around here eat a lot of strong onions, and you can smell it when they sweat.
I noticed the same thing in Korea, probably due to a lot of Kimchi in the diet.

Another reason could be that they just don't know how to wash their clothing.

Heavy beer drinkers usually have an odor to them. I've smelled a similar, but different odor on people who drink a lot of liquor.

My adult daughter recently told me "you smell just like grandpa!" I was like, "ugghhhh!" She said, "what, I liked his smell." To me it was Old Man Smell.

Does anybody know how to turn off Old Man Smell??? :(

An old former friend of mine named Roger had incredibly nasty smelling breath. We used to call it Roger Breath. We never told him, but now anytime someone has that kind of bad breath (and I don't mean like you ate onions, or you didn't brush today...this is like something grew, died, and decayed in your mouth...a long time ago) we say they have Roger Breath.

I used to work with an engineer years ago one of the other guys in his department named Dr.Funk. He smelled like a pot of onion soup on a slow simmer.People talked to him. It didn't seem to help. You knew he was coming if you were downwind.
Another one was this Italian guy I named Odoroni Stencholina. Never knew his real name. ( this is not a general put down I love Italians ) His presence was announced long before his appearance as well.
I have known a number of smelly and bad breath people who died of cancer. Out of balance body chemistry ? Apparently acidity contributes to cancer prone-ness Who knows ?

I have a friend like that. It's just completely mind-boggling. His teeth look mossy, so I assume he just doesn't brush or floss correctly.

Also: I once worked in a store and a guy came in to buy something and he smelled like spaghetti-o's so much that I barfed after he left and 20 years later, the smell makes me feel ill.

I had a coworker once who reeked, all the time. Let's call him BO. BO was a manager and wore a suit. The suit looked like it had been worn for years and never cleaned. Whenever I had to attend a meeting in a conference room with BO, I'd get there early so I could sit as close to the door as possible in hopes of getting some fresher air to breathe. Finally a few of us confronted BO's manager and said something needed to be done. BO was advised of his problem but claimed ignorance about the issue and he didn't change anything as far as we could tell.

I was very happy when I transferred to another department.

I lost my sense of smell about 15 years ago. Blessing and a curse. When I COULD smell, uggghhh B.O. was a problem because my sniffer was really good. I recall one gent we accepted on a work release program. Man he had a pretty odd smell. We think it was methadone he was sweating out his pores. Hard to tell. It was a kind of chemical/sweet thing. Altogether off putting.

Cant say for certain about your respective body odors but a lot of the posts around here sure stink.

they actually trained dogs to sniff out some cancers and there is a sniffing machine nearly as good. Imagine a dog getting all excited to tell you that you have cancer.

I have an overweight coworker who's as nice as can be, but I'm sure he sleeps in his clothes. He shuffles in at 7:20 each morning with the same pants and hair presumably combed in head oils and his office just reeks of what I would call "bed cheese funk". If he ever leaves they're going to have to fumigate (or burn) his office. There's no way I'd move in there.

Back in Ithaca there was this guy who used to come into the store to rent PA for one of the local colleges. He was a bit 'overly friendly' (unless that somehow qualifies as hate speech these days) and his breath smelled like a porcelain god the night after some heavy drinking. Just retched and brown. Being a close talker just made it worse.
