I just looked at Sweetwater and a Dingwall SP-1 five string costs more than Fender Ultra 5 and I bet most of us who really follow gear, think the Dingwall is the better buy. Times have changed.

Lakland use to do this in Chicago with their Korean Skylines as well. Not sure if they still do it with the Indonesian basses.

Well, to be fair a lot of cheaper alternatives are better than Fender as well.

Fender is not really what it never has been in terms of quality.

You stated an opinion about me. I stated that if companies are charging more and retailers are carrying them, there is a change opinion. Sweetwater and Dingwall have not survived throwing money away. There is a market, whether I want to buy one or not.
