I totally understand it…those are two entirely different musical realms. The average consumer of his pop stuff would likely not be able to wrap their heads around the outside, exploritory nature of what Brand X had to offer, in fact they’d think that the Gabriel era Genesis was too weird, with all that long, meandering music and creepy costumes. I’ve known plenty fans of that earlier era that increasingly had no use for the Genesis brand the more it became the Phil Collins and those other two guys show(me being one such person).I could never understand the disdain for Phil Collins in his 80's success. I always thought 'Did you never hear him in Brand X?'
