I'll take the well balanced p-bass with maple fretboard, a truss rod I can access without loosening the neck from the body, and any bridge that prevents sideways saddle movement when playing with a heavy hand.

Oh, and a hipshot d-tuner, please.

I like a vintage spec Fender P-Bass (with the normal P-Bass neck), but without the reverse tuners. I don't like the gold anodized pickguards, so I always replace those with a three ply guard if it's a 50's Fender spec design. I prefer a nitro finish (I don't mind the neck being a bit sticky), and I prefer the vintage style Fender bridge with the threaded saddles. If it's a reissue, I usually replace the pick up with a Duncan Antiquity, or Fralin. I always install the finger rest as well (even though I don't use it). The bridge gets the chrome cover, but not the pick up. Every Fender I have gets a neckplate with the "F" on it and Schaller straplocks.

The only things I would change on my RW Precision are the neck thickness and where the truss-rod adjustment is. The neck is wide enough but too flat for perfection, and adjustment at the heel is a PITA. Otherwise, it's what I think a Fender should be.
