Permanent Series Wiring - Jazz Bass

I'm sitting here thinking of a way to wire them each with a series/parallel switch & still keep them in series. I think it would work!

It would work, just have to take the outputs from the series/parallel switches and put that in series.

I suggest you hear the tone character of J's in series wiring before deciding to make it permanently. Personally I dislike it. The low frequency was noticeably lost. It's probably the reason why most J basses don't come in series wiring.

Depends on the pickup.
Hot wire a set of 1/4lbers or DiMarzios and whack your strings hard.

My Fralins don't lose bottom.

For sure any of my Nordstrands so snarling in series.

In fact there's a bit too much stacked scoop with my hotter wound passive pickups bc I'm overdriving an SVP-CL or an Electric blue with them.

So maybe I didn't say the right word by saying the low frequency was noticeably lost. Like the link said, switching to series will give you a boost in mid-range. That boost is eating my low.

As my passive electronics are not well branded, I guess I cannot expect them to perform perfectly as suggested.

This is a cool wiring for pot controlled series/single pickup for the Peavey Foundation, which is essentially a Jazz bass. I haven't tried this wiring yet, but Mech (on this forum) loves it. That's good enough for me! See post #26 on this thread for more info. Peavey Foundation w Super Ferrites?
Note that the pickups have red=hot on the neck pickup and red=ground on the bridge pickup. This is due to the hum cancelling north/south magnets and reverse wiring of the pickups. Wire accordingly or sound out of phase.
