Double Bass Pernambucco german style double bass bow?

Has anyone any feedback on one of these they'd be willing to share with me please? I'm an absolute novice and will probably play more finger / pizzicatto (no doubt spelt incorrectly) style as I'm mainly into playing jazz etc (please don;t let that put yu off replying!) but am looking for a bow at the student end of the market?

Thanks for reading.

Two places I would check first are the Finale Carbon Fiber bow and the Arcos Brasil from Robertsons violin shop, those two have both gotten great reviews from lots of players around here and believe the price on the Finale is 350 and the Arcos Brasil ones range from about 300 up to about 1500 if I remember correctly.

First, fill out your profile so we'll know where you're located. That way, we can recommend some bass shops or luthiers with many bows to try out.

Do you have an arco teacher? If not, get one. Relatively speaking, you can get away with not using a pizz teacher, but you can almost never get away without using an arco teacher.

You can ask the member on this forum on recommendations, but after you fill out your profile so we'll know where you're located.

definitely check out carbon fiber bows. there are loads of forums here about carbon bows and more specifically the Finale Carbon Fiber Bow. One of the forums has a link to Jason Heaths Bass Blog where he compares a Finale bow to a $4000+ Dolling Pernambuco bow. his findings are very interesting and very positive for the Finale. I would say the Finale bow gives you the best bang for your buck.

I just called the bass emporium and asked them how long the trial period for a finale bow is. The guy pretty much chuckled at me, and then he respond 5 days (not even a week). After I explained that I was trying out 3 pernambuco bows and also I want to consider the Finale bow, he respond: call me back if you do not like the bows you are trying. I do not think I will do business with them...
