Double Bass Perpetuals- My Favorite strings

My current set of EPs need to be replaced. I have a set of Perps that I wasn't too impressed with when I tried them but I may try them again before I get something else new. I need a truly hybrid string so I've tried several over the years and the EPs worked the best for me but I'm willing to experiment.

The Perpetuals sounded good on my 110 cm acoustic bass, but weak on my 105 cm solid body EUB.
A little bit too bright for my taste, but I might try again later.

my bass is 43.5 inch so i guess the same length as yours and thats why I like them. The looseness is lost on a bass that large but I never loved them on the shens i would put them on. The brightness is something I actually look for as I never was a fan of dark strings like Evahs after a while, but my set on the bass now is about 2 years old and I'm digging the warmer sound. If I can get 5 years out of em that would be cool.

For me it is not so much the Perpetuals themselves, but since I play a 5-string with a high C, any steel core high C that makes sense to add is too thin and cuts too much into the fingers of my left hand. So I prefer a bit stretchier and thicker synthetic core string in general.
But hardly anybody else is dumb enough to play a five string with 110 cm using a high C string…

I have a full set (stark D and G)
I finally tried the stark D and G... dang! these are great! They replaced Spirocore S42 medium D and G... I'm keeping the Spiro E and A on the bottom for now but first impressions are very favorable.

Update-
I put the Perpetual E and A on and the balance is nice.

Couldn’t fall in love with them, even with the thicker G from Gollihur (stock G was crazy thin). Clear pitch, good sustain, but didn’t have much warmth to their character on my bass (say, versus Evahs or even Zyex).:meh: Anyone wants a Perpetual set, drop me a line.
Agree, my Perpetuals arrived today. I don't even want to put them on my bass, the G string is so thin I know I'll hate them. I have been using Spiro Weich and thought after all the hype I should try Perpetuals. They look amazing in the rubbish bin right now. Sometimes you win sometimes you don't.

Well don't throw them away! I'll be happy to buy them from you :)

I haven't tried the starks, but I love the regular perpetuals. They're a really nice mix of modern and old school string attributes. I don't think I would go for the starks for fear of losing sustain in thumb position (my bass has poor sustain up there to begin with).

I might’ve mentioned this in this thread already (I definitely have elsewhere in the forum) but I’m currently using Spirocore Weich E & A with regular Perpetual D & G. I find the Spiros are stronger on the low end than the Perps. Might be worth a try for anyone having a similar experience.

They blend perfectly. They’re a consistent on my bass than a bunch of whole sets.
