Personal Tragedy

Man that's BS!

I am really sick of this city!.....freakin animals

A Deacon and in the church parking lot?

I'm really sorry to hear that..... I could say a lot about the city and how it's managed but it won't do any good at this point.

A city with a population of 900,000 leads this nation in murders, and a Deacon at God's house trying to do good becomes the latest victim....I can't even put into words how that makes me feel that this is happening in my backyard.

My prayers are with you and his family.

I thank all of you for the kind words and well wishes and prayers. Burying my head in work and periodically checking back to this thread have been my best form of therapy this week.

The real test comes Friday at the funeral. I've asked Bob's family if I can be considered as one of the pall-bearers. We'll see. The other difficult thing will be for Melanie. She had just left the house to drive to Chicago for a week long class an hour before this all happened. I wouldn't let anybody contact her about it because I didn't want her driving with this on her mind. I called her on her cell phone Sunday night as she was checking into her hotel. Understandably, she fell apart. Tomorrow she gets to make the drive back in order to attend the funeral on Friday. Obviously we've been in contact all week, so I believe she's beyond the initial shock. My concern is that a 4 hour drive without something to take her mind off the situation could be difficult.

Where I live such heinous crimes are sadly commonplace as well. I just wanted to add my condolences to those already expressed here. I hope you can take some comfort from his faith that you evidently share and the good works of his life.

Just heard about this story fairly recently...it's horrible enough anywhere, but hitting so close to home...so sorry James :( I hope the funeral wasn't too trying for you and all others affected

I hear the kids are going to be tried as adults. Here's hoping that means they get the book thrown at them...life in prison is even longer when you're a damn teenager. :scowl:

That is truly terrible news, my sympathies.

My God, what happened in those boy's lives that they would kill someone before adulthood? If only they had been shown compassion and direction in their lives before they took someone else's...

Peace
