My folks listened to PP&M all the time when I was growing up. They had all of their classic albums.

To this day, I still enjoy listening to the songs of that extraordinarily talented singing trio. My adult daughter, and now her two kids are also fans of their music and they often stream their songs.

I saw PP&M in the late 80's at Alpine Valley. We had center, third row tickets. A wonderful night. I learned later about Yarrow's history with underage girls, his incarceration and later, his presidential pardon. Disturbing. Their music meant a lot as a new guitar/bass player in the mid 60's. Folk music was important, and PP&M were the top of that genre.

I saw him doing a solo show about 14 years ago near my home. Good show, and a very good story-teller.

My first ever music concert proper was when my parents took my brother and I to see Peter Paul and Mary at the Carter Barron amphitheater in Washington DC. I believe was 10 at the time, which would make the year 1969 or 70. My parents were all about folk music with political messages. I enjoyed PP&M as well, but TBH I was mainly there for Puff the Magic Dragon.


Trivia note: opening for PP&M was some unknown dude named Gordon Lightfoot. This is the song I've remembered to this day:

I started out playing PP&M music on guitar (PP&M in Concert was the only album in our house) pretty much learned how to play guitar copying that finger picking style.

Yarrow was a pretty good comedian too. His monologue on that LP was hysterical.

So sad to hear that. A lot of my favorite music is from that era. And many songs from P,P & M. Takes me back to being a kid with no worries, pains, problems, etc.

I have a big hurt in my heart. We were playing our Peter, Paul and Mary vinyl when the kids were visiting at Christmas.
