Double Bass Peterson Stomp Classic as a DI

Hi, there I was wondering if anyone has been using a Peterson Stomp Classic Strobotuner as their DI? if so, how's that working out?

I'm a newish upright player that's just getting my rig set up for my first gigs that are going to require me to plug in, and I was wondering if I could kill two birds with one stone.

I use an LR baggs para acoustic for my fiddle.
 
It's a great tuner, but I haven't used mine as a DI. The manual doesn't say what the input impedance is at the 1/4" jack, but I imagine it's lower than is ideal for most piezo pickups, so the output signal might sound a little thin. Using something like fdeck's HPF-Pre in front of it would be a relatively inexpensive solution to that problem.

However, lots of peple use your LR Baggs box with success on DB, so you might as well try what you already have, especially if you already have a decent tuner.
 
I'm 95% certain the input impedance is 1Meg ohm, but it's not really quiet enough for a low-level signal that will need gobs of gain. It's better suited to higher-output pickups where you don't need so much post-DI gain.

You might get away with it live, though. I LOVE the Strobostomp II and it's been an essential part of my electric rig for about 4 years now. I'll have to try it with a Full Circle on the upright.
 
Well, I was wrong. I did some digging on the Peterson forum and found that the input impedance in active mode (not true bypass) is 500k. That explains why I found it to be a bit scratchy with the Full Circle after trying it. I don't recommend it as a piezo buffer.
 
This old thread came up in a mostly unrelated search, but I'm curious because I recently bought another pedal tuner that claims "True Bypass."

Forgetting for a moment the idea of using it as a DI -- do you all think it's safe to believe that these devices really TRULY bypass the signal as is, when not engaged? (Mine is a Korg Pitchblack)
