Re: the "what bass should I get." Some 5s have really close string spacing which makes it harder to slap and pop. My Ibanez SR505 really messes my index finger up so I rarely slap on it now. Ps and Js have good spacing for it, Js seem popular with slappers (Larry Graham plays a Jazz, conversely that's a P in the above vid). You'll get a good tone on damn near anything really, your technique says a lot in regards to the tone.

I put a set of chromes (flats) on my P and actually really dig the tone! Makes me want to get a (hair) pick and white boy 'fro my hair!

Great DVD. I purchased the VHS tape and wore it out years ago.
And MarloweDK is the man. He's picked some great tunes to play on his channel. He's up tp 262 vids now. He was talking about moving to New York a couple months ago. I don't know what happened with that.
